As a school-based counselor, a person will be involved in the mental and behavioral health services provided to children and adolescents within the Lake County School District. This includes providing individual, group, and family counseling to students experiencing difficulties related to their academic performance or social skills development.
As a school-based counselor at BEIDT Health, use knowledge of behavior management techniques for young people to succeed academically at school. On top of this, help them develop life skills through activities such as peer groups or sports teams that involve teamwork rather than competition between individuals.
In this role, work closely with the colleagues to promote health education and increase awareness of the importance of physical activity among children. Be responsible for communicating effectively with families through media campaigns, direct mailers, and other methods of communication.
The candidate needs to provide group and individual services in the schools. They must also provide links between parents and community resources and crisis intervention as needed.
There are some pre qualification required:
- 2+ years of experience with Youth required
- 1+ years of experience with children/adolescents’ mental health assistance will be preferred.
- The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to drive for the company.
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in Counseling, Social Work, or other related fields.
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated experience building relationships with children and adolescents
