Clyde C Harris has been Inducted into the Prestigious Marquis Who’s Who Registry
NASHVILLE, TN, February 9, 2023, Clyde C Harris has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leveraging more than three decades of excellence in the dance business and filmmaking, Mr. Harris has earned distinction as the chief executive officer of Native Soul Pictures. Since 2020, he has focused his efforts on developing media for various genres, both in reality and scripted television. Additionally, he has been the co-owner of the Southeastern Preliminary Entertainer of the Year since 2023, covering the Southeastern Preliminary competitions to National Entertainer of the year. Clyde won National Entertainer of the Year in 2004. He is a valued member of Terpischore, the CID International Dance Council and a Championship Certified licensed Adjudicator for the National Dance Council of America and the World Dance Council.
Prior to his current role, Mr. Harris began his career as a professional Ballroom dance instructor and eventually the dance director for National Dance Clubs in 2001. In 2008, he became a training specialist manager for ‘Dance With Me USA’ and continued his career as the regional dance director manager for World Champion Productions in 2013. He retired from dancing professionally in 2018 to focus on creating his own production company. Over the course of his career, he and his partner Summer Black Elkin, were one of only seven couples in the world who were invited to the two-week long Olympics of ballroom dancing, BlackPool Dance Festival in England. They competed there in the Open British Exhibition Championships as Finalists and he was the first African American in 25 years to be invited. After their performance in England, Clyde and Summer were Invited to audition for Jennifer Lopez’s World of Dance and received a Front of the line Pass to audition for America’s Got Talent.
Among his professional accomplishments, Mr. Harris has won a variety of awards for his dance talents. He was a US Cabaret National Finalist from the Wayne Eng USDC in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and was the UCWDC World Cabaret Champion in 2016 and then Vice Champion in 2017. He was also honored as a Milly Nyman Challenge of the Continent Champion between USA and Canada by the Florida State Dancesport Championships four years in a row 2014-2017. In recognition of his short film about Love and Distance during the Pandemic, “The Perfect Love,” he received Best Special FXI in a short film and Best LGBTQ Short Film in 2020 in several film Festivals. Prior to embarking on his professional journey, Mr. Harris attended Virginia Tech from 1995-1999. Where he was the Chair for the Commission on Student Affairs, Vice President of the Student Government and a Member of the Highty Tighties Regimental Band until 1998 and had the opportunity to March in President Bill Clinton’s second inauguration Parade. He attained a master’s degree in dance through Dance Vision. Well-qualified in his field, he holds numerous professional certifications, including as a championship licensed adjudicator and as a certified dance teacher.
Since his retirement, Clyde Has worked on 25 TV series and Five major films. Within the coming years, Mr. Harris will finish writing his television series titled “Good Grief,” which is inspired by his experiences as a ballroom dancer. He was asked to be a producer on a TV series titled, ‘Iron Men of ’99’ about the College football hall of fame’s, Greatest college football team of all time: 1899 Sewanee Tigers in Tennessee. He is also collaborating with the Entertainment Community Fund, which has raised and distributed over $30 million in aid to entertainers and other industry professionals across the United States, in order to raise awareness for the organization. He is holding several events where a 10% of the net proceeds will be donated to the fund while documenting the journey of the winners of Southeastern Entertainer of the year contest to the nationals on a broadcast TV series called “Road to Royalty,” providing an opportunity for underrepresented and underfunded individuals to establish themselves in entertainment.
