Freedom Rising Conference Tackles Key Social Issues with Prominent Speakers and Activists

The Freedom Rising Conference is set to bring together passionate individuals and organizations dedicated to addressing a wide range of pressing issues in today’s society. The conference, taking place from April 28th to April 30th, 2023, will offer a platform for inspiring discussions, workshops, and performances led by prominent speakers and activists.

The Dismantling Fascism with Fierce Love Conference will cover 17 key topics, including:

Christian Fascism and its impact on democracy, featuring Jacqui Lewis, Edgar Villanueva, Obery Hendricks, Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, Robert P. Jones, Melissa Harris-Perry, Charlotte Clymer, Kristin Du Mez, Simran Jeet Singh, and Abby Stein.

Liberating personal stories and exploring themes of race, class, gender, and sexuality, with speakers like Kelly Brown Douglas, Natalie Renee Perkins, and Jacqui Lewis.

Self-care and self-compassion, presented by Kaitlin Curtice and Danya Ruttenberg.

Dismantling patriarchy, with insights from Nadia Bolz-Weber, Jacqui Lewis, and Frederick T. Joseph.

Dealing with grief and emotions, featuring Nelba L. Marquez-Greene and Benjamin Perry.

Celebration of love and unity, featuring a Fierce Love Celebration led by the Jerriese Johnson Gospel Choir and a sermon by Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis.

Abolition dreams, with discussions led by Olayemi Olurin and Jacqui Lewis.

Building a movement, featuring keynote speaker LaTosha Brown, Founder of Black Voters Matter.

Governing ethics, presented by Erik Bottcher, Svante Myrick, and Carlina Rivera.

Land back and healing communities, featuring Arif Ullah, Mark Charles, and Jacqui Lewis.

Learning from elders, with insights from Otis Moss Jr., Otis Moss III, Jacqui Lewis, Ruby N. Sales, and the late Achebe Betty Powell.
