Texas Recycling, a Dallas Recycling Center, Earns Distinguished Community Award

DALLAS, TEXAS (May 2023): Joel Litman and Craig Litman, co-owners of Texas

Recycling, accept a Distinguished Community Award from the Dallas Police Department. The award recognizes Texas Recycling for its work and partnership in the community. Texas Recycling is a three-generation family-owned Dallas recycling center.

“In 2015, Texas Recycling moved to an established neighborhood in Jubilee Park. We were excited to engage with our new area, but we also had to prove ourselves as a valuable member of the community,” says Joel Litman, president and co-owner. In efforts to overcome “not in my backyard” skepticism, the company set out to demonstrate its intention to be a good neighbor and an active, positive presence in the community.

Texas Recycling invited residents to open houses at its Dallas recycling center and attended neighborhood meetings. Neighborhood association leaders and the officers at the local Jubilee Park police station took notice. They encouraged residents and public officials to give Texas Recycling a chance.

Since then, Texas Recycling has become an integral part of the Jubilee Park community. They continue to step up and help their neighbors whenever there is a need. Texas Recycling’s community-focused actions have included:

— Offering transportation to move pallets of food to neighborhood distribution areas during the COVID shutdown

— Donating funds for Jubilee Park Community Center’s summer camp programs

— Providing the local police department with resources for their Christmas Toy Drive

— Participating in back-to-school picnics, National Night Out and other neighborhood events

— Supporting scholarships awarded to high school seniors by the Dallas Police Department

— Joining neighborhood crime watch programs

— Providing jobs to residents in the local community at the Dallas recycling center

“This award validates the partnership our company has forged with the Dallas Police Department, neighborhood associations, and the community within our commercial home near Jubilee Park,” Joel Litman says. “The award also confirms the trust and friendship our company has worked hard to create and sustain among law enforcement and residential communities.”

This is the Dallas recycling center’s first Distinguished Community Award. In addition, Texas Recycling and the Litmans have been recognized in the past by the local Jubilee Park police station. Adds Joel Litman, “We are proud of our neighborhood, and plan to remain an active member of this community for a long time.”
