“The Flamingo Advantage: How to Leverage Unique, Stay Relevant and Change the World” was written by Katie Hornor with the goal of encouraging Christians who own businesses to live out their unique vision and give their message with more confidence.

Katie Hornor has a background as a teacher with a Master’s degree in Education from Bob Jones University. She feels she was created to be a teacher but in order to provide true help to other business owners, she had to also learn online business principles, strategies and skills, including coding html, writing copy, the secrets of virtual communication, creating graphics, branding, client experience etc. She wanted to help Christian business owners do these things more successfully, better, and faster. To that end, she has created multiple courses and her signature Flamboyance group coaching program and higher level mastermind.
Katie Hornor understands that we all have varied learning styles and has hopes that the audiobook will serve an even greater number of entrepreneurs who have lived their personal faith and want to blend it into their professional life to make a bigger income and impact. She wants to reach those who have concerns about honoring God while still making money; many people of faith have some ambivalence about pursuing affluence. As Katie has related previously, “Becoming known for flamingos was a bit of an accident. We took a family trip to go see flamingos in the wild in Mexico, where we live, because there’s a place where they migrate to in the winter. As we were coming home from that trip, the Lord just kept giving me the object lessons that tied flamingos and entrepreneurs together so beautifully and became the basis for these books.
“You see, I don’t believe flamingos are conscious of how unique and amazing they are. They’re just there. They’re pink, out in the middle of this big expanse of blue and green, and none the wiser. And yet, to everything around them, they are quite outlandish. But they just accept who they are and go on doing what they were created to do, and good thing, too. The health of the world’s ecosystems depends on them.
“As Christians, if we would stop focusing on being scared of how unique we are or out of place we feel and embrace our uniqueness, allowing ourselves the freedom to just do what we were created to do, our entire world ecosystem would be better off. And that, essentially, is one of the big messages of this and my other ‘flamingo’ books.”
