Simi Valley BongoRx EPAP Device For Obstructive Sleep Apnea Therapy Released

As the prevalence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) among Americans continues to rise, the Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center has updated its range of treatments with the release of Bongo Rx, an FDA-cleared nasal Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP) device.

Residents of Simi Valley suffering from mild to moderate OSA can now benefit from Bongo Rx, which provides an effective alternative for patients who cannot tolerate CPAP therapy.

The National Healthy Sleep Awareness Project estimates that at least 25 million US adults suffer from sleep apnea. If left untreated, this condition can lead to hypertension, cognitive impairment, heart disease, and stroke. Common symptoms of OSA include interrupted sleep, irregular breathing, loud snoring, gasping and choking noises, fatigue, and headaches.

Patients diagnosed with OSA usually are prescribed Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy. This treatment involves using a mask connected by a tube to the CPAP device, which generates air pressure to keep a user’s airways open. While this therapy is effective, CPAP may not be well tolerated by all patients. “If you have mild to moderate OSA but are non-compliant with CPAP and looking for a user-friendly option, The Bongo sleep apnea therapy device may be just what you need,” says a spokesperson for the Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center.

Bongo Rx is designed, molded, and assembled in the USA and is a portable alternative to CPAP devices. The soft silicone nasal pillows form a positive seal within the nostrils, dilating the nasal passage and allowing unrestricted airflow.

In addition to the Bongo Rx device, the Southern California Pulmonary and Sleep Disorders Medical Center offers various treatments for sleep disorders.
