Chaplain School For Comprehensive Chaplaincy Training, 2023 Program Launched

The National School Chaplain Association has been training school chaplains for decades and now, with their new program, they are reaching out to both certified teachers and ordained ministers, as well as individuals without teaching or church ministry experience who think being a school chaplain could be their calling. The National School Chaplain Association now has two different training paths available to interested individuals. The first is an intensive short course for already certified professionals and the second is a year-long course for which the only requirement is a high school leaving certificate.

As both a school chaplaincy advocacy and training institute, the National School Chaplain Association believes that school chaplains are more necessary than ever. And, as a recent article on The Conversation added, with school psychologists and counsellors now typically overworked and required to go between several schools, today both public and private Christian institutions are reliant on chaplains to provide much-needed well-being and mental health support to staff and students.

As such, both the National School Chaplain Association’s intensive short course and year-long program have been created to meet the demands that will be placed upon a chaplain. These new training programs will also empower participating individuals with the skills and spiritual wisdom they will need to work with elementary, middle and high school-aged students.

Given the need for chaplains in schools across the United States, the National School Chaplain Association is confident that participants in their comprehensive chaplaincy training programs will be able to secure work in local schools.

The organization also believes that chaplaincy is an opportunity to work in a job with true meaning, helping to provide spiritual care to children and young people, and working to make schools safer.

A spokesperson for the nationwide chaplain school said, “Trained and licensed chaplains provide counsel, education, advocacy, life improvement skills, and recovery training, providing a bridge between the secular and spiritual environments of community life throughout the United States. Discover your future as a chaplain with us.”
